The medical history includes the birth history (prenatal and perinatal complications and exposures—eg, preterm delivery, maternal hypertension, prenatal alcohol exposure), early developmental progression, medical and mental health evaluation and treatment, and past and current medications.

ADHD is highly inheritable and is often seen in other family members.
