Screening recommendations were developed by the Expert Panels and other experts based on the child’s age and stage and the visit priorities, and are summarized in the Recommendations for Preventive Pediatric Health Care.
Screening tasks were chosen based on available evidence or on expert opinion statements from the: Maternal and Child Health Bureau; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); AAP; American Academy of Family Physicians; National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners; United States Preventive Services Task Force, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; American College of Medical Genetics, Newborn Screening Expert Group; and others. Broad consultation was obtained to achieve consensus.
