Patient and Family Participation in Care Planning

Involving the patient and family in growth care into practice means:

  • Being aware of the composition of the family
  • Asking about and addressing patient and family concerns about growth, puberty, and development
  • Assessing the family’s well-being and identifying and addressing psychosocial issues
  • Providing education
  • Building on family strengths
  • Partnering with families to openly communicate all suspected and confirmed growth/pubertal disorders and to provide appropriate and timely follow-up services, education, and resources in a culturally sensitive, understandable format
