Psychosocial Therapy
For patients with more than mild symptoms, evidenced-based psychosocial therapy provided by a mental health specialist will likely be warranted.
For younger children, interventions typically focus more on caregivers and teach strategies that strengthen the caregiver-child relationship, promote prosocial behavior, and address maladaptive behavior. Older children and adolescents can typically participate in “talk therapy,” including cognitive behavioral therapy or interpersonal therapy.
