Sounds like a great idea, but I don’t have dental insurance…how will I afford it?

We apply the varnish here in the office, which may be less expensive than for you to schedule additional dental visits only for varnish application. If you have trouble covering the costs of your child’s dental care, talk to their dentist about ways to decrease those costs.

Note to clinicians: Families may be willing to pay if it is not a covered service once they understand the importance. Explain that the application of fluoride varnish and twice-daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste can prevent the occurrence of dental caries. The cost to repair teeth is greater than the cost of the fluoride varnish and toothpaste. Baby (primary) teeth are important for speech, chewing, and prevention of decay in permanent teeth.
