Referral (family members and caregivers)
Behavioral support may increase the odds of family members and caregivers quitting successfully. Pediatric health clinicians should link all family members and caregivers to local programs for smoking cessation, quit lines, Smokefree.gov, and Text to Quit. With the family member/caregiver’s permission, they should enroll them in Quitline or text to Quit.
Connect all family members and caregivers to behavioral support when treating vaping/tobacco use. Some family members/caregivers may require additional pharmacological support that you or their primary care provider prescribe to increase the likelihood of a successful quit.
Refer to the table for virtual and in-person behavioral support options.

In addition:
- Develop a list of available local and national behavioral supports.
- If feasible, connect the patient directly during the clinical visit, using their smartphone and/or an eReferral system.
