As part of CDC and ACOG guidance, the birth parent should be tested for common opioid use disorder (OUD) comorbidities, such as:

Infectious diseases, including sexually transmitted infections
HIV/AIDS
Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C
Liver enzymes and serum bilirubin test to detect liver disease
Serum creatinine levels test to detect silent renal disease
